PORTLAND, Maine — Walch Education, Cobb County Schools and HP Publishing Solutions today announce an innovative program to demonstrate how tens-of-thousands of American teachers can create and print on-demand customized and cost-effective student resources.

Walch Education’s patent pending Curriculum Engine gives educators control over their resources, using a simple four step wizard to assist them in developing coherent, aligned and targeted digital curricula. In partnership with HP Publishing Solutions, Walch can now provide educators and teachers across the country with the parallel capacity to tailor printed workbooks on-demand and meet the needs of every student.

According to a June 1, 2020 study by McKinsey & Company, lack of access to high quality remote learning often puts lower-income students at a disadvantage. Using HP Publishing’s cost-effective network, Walch’s novel print-on-demand approach is designed to increase accessibility and affordability for school systems, ensuring that all students have the resources they need to succeed.

Cobb County School District is a recognized leader and innovator. After a year in which the need to adapt and tailor their work to address changing circumstances has become more evident than ever, the flexibility to define and print on-demand resources, whilst also using their digital counterparts, has become even more appealing.

Tailored, readily available student workbooks can help close achievement gaps, improve equity and access, save money and lessen environmental impacts (through reduced waste).

“We are constantly exploring ways to optimize instruction, and instructional supports, to facilitate teaching and learning” said Michelle Mikes, Cobb County’s Math Supervisor. “Tailored and rapidly available printed resources allow teachers to provide improved support for their students when they need it”.

Nancy Janes, HP Publishing Sales and Business Development Director stated, “HP is delighted to support Walch with their mission to empower teachers and reduce the digital divide, by providing affordable customisable printing on demand through our global print partner network.”

Al Noyes, Walch’s CEO, remarked “This unique capacity to provide purpose-built resources is revolutionary and something we think other school districts will benefit greatly from. Our district partners no longer need to rely solely on “off the shelf” resources and the compromises they entail ”.
